May Flys on the river

A lovely Spring event on the river began yesterday and as it's late May its about time they hatched but only in small numbers. All the birds were feeding on them and one landed in front of me on some white flowers so I took a few photographs before I returned the lost individual to the river to save it some energy as the life of a Mayfly is short but plays a huge role especially for a healthy river as many species from fish, nesting birds and other insects really appreciate the influx of food at this time of the year.
Thanks for visiting

Mike
