Quick visit to the Sea bird cliffs

Like most years on my June trip to North Wales I always make time to visit the sea bird cliffs to see how they compare to last year and after walking through waist deep water to get there it was nice to see that there were quite a few sea birds this year. There were no chicks yet and this time last year there were chicks in most nests and I am thinking some of the other bird life maybe taking a few eggs from this area of nesting birds as we found evidence up on the tops of the cliffs. I shall post in the future about what maybe having an effect on the nesting sea birds in the next few weeks.

 Nearly got one of the closest Kittiwake shots here but I just missed the tail maybe next year I will succeed on getting the shot

Funny moment of the year - Kittiwake colony

 Never let your brother choose the spot to photograph sea birds from as you just might get covered in a white fishy mess. See rock behind and yes you guessed it he stood right in the line of fire as it seemed the Kittiwakes would have a poo before landing and after taking off in the same spot. It was quite funny actually as he got more covered than me but it was the foulest thing I have ever smelled.

 We got covered in bird poo but it was worth it as we got some nice shots of the Kittiwakes nesting.

The calls of the Kittiwake colony is one of my favorite natural noises to hear as it reminds me of the summer and all the sea birds diving into a flat calm sea around my kayak.
