A fantastic find on a local industrial estate

On a local industrial estate the other day we spotted a black grass snake slithering off into the undergrowth and I found a sheet of wood nearby so it seemed perfect for a place where snakes would go to hunt or rest but underneath were about 10 toads as well as a Shrew nest which ran out when we lifted the sheet of wood but the toads remained there. Below is one of the bigger toads that I got a few shots off before returning the wood back to its original position.
I shall keep an eye on the area and hopefully sooner or later we will film/photograph the unusual black grass snake. In the next few days I will put down some plastic sheets raised so that wildlife can get underneath and hopefully the snake may use them for shelter or breeding.

Thanks for reading

Mike
